LOCATION:

The Sparks Ranch is located on the Wyoming-Nebraska border, 13 miles southwest of Harrison, Nebraska, 24 miles northeast of Torrington, Wyoming and 20 miles north of Henry, Nebraska and the North Platte River which is a large agricultural and livestock area.

SIZE:

The ranch is divided into three parcels, one is located west of the Nebraska/Wyoming line and is in the state of Wyoming and contains 1,017 acres, the larger parcel is in Nebraska and contains 10,018 acres with the headquarters on this property. The north parcel is 9 miles north of the large parcel and contains approximately 2,560 acres. Included with the large parcel is a 640 acre Nebraska State School Lease.

WATER:

The ranch is watered by 17 windmills and 8 stock tanks with underground pipeline from the headquarters.

Headquarters is in poor condition and has two old homesteads.

OPERATION:

The ranch has been used as a cow/calf operation but can be an excellent yearling ranch, because of the great Sioux County Grass. The is the premier grass area in the United States with yearly gains of 300 lbs. in 5 months. The county average is 15 acres per cow/calf unit, depending on moisture and management practices. In average years  the ranch runs 1,800 to 2,500 yearlings.

WILDLIFE:

Antelope, mule deer, white tail, sharp tail grouse and huns are on the ranch.

TAXES:

Combined taxes for Wyoming and Nebraska are $16,828 and the state lease is $3,210 per year.
